I recently got a new Windows 10 laptop and download/installed 12.10.0.30 64 bit. This version seems to crash two to three times a day. Anyone else having this trouble? Or, any suggested actions to take to make it more stable? Thanks, Dennis

Ok, now I need to upgrade but after this step can we access without admin privilege?

Forum Post: RE: Toad in Security environment
Yes. The version you are using was designed during the Windows XP/Windows 2000 days and the "admin privileges" concept was just taking hold in Windows. The current version (12.10) is designed to not write anything into the program files folders but instead writes to the %APPDATA% folders and the Microsoft Windows guidelines dictates. The screen capture I originally sent was from v12.10 and logged in as a standard user (not administrator). It has been this way for many, many releases.

Forum Post: Unwanted query in generated Alter code
Can't figure this one out on my own. Toad 12.8.0.49 Professional 64-bit w/DB Admin Module Win 7 64-bit I start the in Schema Browser, click Alter (an index), I make a change to the index. In this example I renamed a partition. When the SQL code is generated, along with the RENAME query it includes an Alter Index NO INMEMMORY query. How do I get it to leave out that query? EX: ALTER INDEX ACTUARY.MR_RUN_TIME MODIFY PARTITION MRT_FUTURE_YEARS NO INMEMORY; ALTER INDEX ACTUARY.MR_RUN_TIME RENAME PARTITION MRT_FUTURE_YEARS TO MRT_FUTURE_YEARS3; Thank you sincerely for any assistance. Adding a text box in the empty space in Analyze All Objects/ Schemas and Database as a place that gather results can be pasted into
In the Schemas and Database tab of Analyze All Objects the left almost two thirds of the window is blank. Currently after you run an Analyze you have to switch to another window or program to paste in the results for inspection. Could a big text box be added in that empty space as a place that the results can be pasted into? That would let you run a LIST Gather Option, paste and inspect the results and then run another Gather Option without switching windows. Thanks for your consideration Best Regards, Brian Keegan SR Oracle DBA Farmers Insurance Group

Forum Post: RE: Improved error messages
Hey Prashant, Well, this is an older GA version of TOAD, rather than a beta version; however, I would suspect the port is defined incorrectly in your TFS configuration window. To fix this: Open the Team Coding Administration window. Next to the drop-down for Microsoft Team Foundation Server, there's an ellipsis button. Click that. Change the port listed on that form from "1" to "80" (the default http port) Click OK to close the TFS configuration window Click OK to close the Team Coding Administration window. On a side note: I'd recommend upgrading your version of Toad to a more current version. Team Coding was completely rewritten for Toad 12.9 and has improved functionality, performance, and stability. Plus, you'll need Toad 12.10 installed in order to be able to run the beta. I hope this information helps! -John

Beta Notes Schema Migration The new Compare Schemas Wizard provides an easier to use interface for doing a one-to-one comparison between schemas. One of the unique features of the Wizard is to allow for the adding or checking in of the generated script to source control. The new Window can be found under Toad's Database > Compare menu item or from within Toad's Automation Designer.

Forum Post: Lost area above data grid...
Hello - I'm a newbie to the forum. I'm using Toad for Oracle 12.1.0.22. I recently noticed that I no longer see the area above the data grid where I could drag a column header and group by that column. Can anyone tell me how to restore that feature? Thanks!

Forum Post: RE: File compare facility
Hey Abe, I took a look into the issue you raised concerning the "report formatting differences" checkbox. This option is not designed to ignore formatting differences when comparing two files. It is a legacy option from the old compare window, which is designed to provide notification to the user when only formatting or comment differences exist. This is why the option appears under the "General" page rather than the "Matching" page. The file compare window will do a comparison between two selected files and display their differences based on the way they are currently formatted. In addition to this, selecting this option will format each file's source behind the scenes, do the compare again, and report to the user if the only differences between the source files are in formatting or comments -- regardless of what is displayed in the window. This gives the user a quick view that whatever differences they're seeing are cosmetic or formatting only. If you want to format your files manually, you can click the "Format Files" button in the tool bar (to the left of the "Previous Difference" button). I've also added a "Format source before comparing" option in the comparison options window. This will be in the next beta. -John

Dennis, I'm on Beta 53 now and I wanted to try this feature. So I entered select * from dual where dummy = :x; Then pressed F9 and got the following pop-up: I can see only the options to specify a literal or an environment variable. No expression option :-( Am I missing something? Abe Kornelis ==========
